Ergonomic duty belt harness

Dec. 22, 2009

BLACKHAWK! Products Group has responded to the growing concern in the law enforcement community related to discomfort and injuries from long-term use of duty belts and related gear. BLACKHAWK!'s Ergonomic Duty Belt Harness shifts the weight of the equipment-laden duty belt from the hip structure of the officer to the shoulders. This harness fits under the duty shirt and with a minor modification to the duty shirt, attaches to the duty belt. The Ergonomic Duty Belt Harness fits a broad range of body types and body armor packages. There is no need to purchase a specific type of body armor to accommodate the Ergonomic Duty Belt Harness. There are no moving parts to fail which means officers can wear the Ergonomic Duty Belt Harness in confidence and health every day on the job. Available two sizes that areadjustable to fit almost every officer.

Reduces Back and Hip Injuries
The BLACKHAWK! Ergonomic Duty Belt Harness was developed, tested and selected under a grant program funded by the NIJ to answer the growing concern for back and hip injuries stemming from the long-term use of heavy duty belts in the law enforcement community. This innovative harness system is already proving to be highly successful at minimizing injury.

Easy-to-Use, Comfortable to Wear
The BLACKHAWK! Ergonomic Duty Belt Harness works on the simple premise of transferring the weight of an equipment-laden duty belt from the hip to the shoulders of the officer. Unlike traditional suspenders, the harness fits under the duty shirt and attaches to the duty belt with minor alterations.

Testers found the simplicity of the system easy to wear during day-to-day operations including removing the belt, adjusting gear, sitting and standing. The back and hip-saving features rated highly with the testers for immediate relief from back tension. The harness is compatible with most concealment armor packages and has no moving parts to cause any failure.

NTOA Tested

The BLACKHAWK!® Ergonomic Duty Belt Harness has received an overall high score of 4.35 from the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Member Tested and Recommended Program. The harness was also the winning design in a National Institute of Justice (NIJ) funded competition for providing a solution to back and hip injuries to officers from the weight of duty belts and required gear. NTOA testers gave high scores for design, performance, quality, durability, convenience and comfort.
